Kiefer ThalenI am researching the impact of different sampling protocols on citizen science data. As the technology era expands, our access to data and information is ever-increasing. Many open-source data collection apps look to build databases of species observations and presences, but how useful can this information be in the world of science and policy making? My MSc research is targeted at addressing site-specific locations for sampling for western chorus frogs (Pseudacris triseriata) and comparing it to opportunistically sampled data of the same species. I look to make recommendations on how citizen science data is collected so that it can be used in a wider range of science and decision-making.
