Arthur Scully
My PhD is researching lynx-bobcat interactions (in collaboration with Dr Dan Thornton, Washington State University). As climate change progresses, it is predicted that the Pacific Northwest will experience both increased average temperatures and reduced annual snow accumulation. Within this region, range expansion in warm-adapted species (i.e. bobcat) is projected to outpace range retraction in cold-adapted species (i.e. Canada lynx). This will lead to increased novel interactions at the contact zone of these species, often along the Canada-US border. My focal species, the Canada lynx and the bobcat, have a critical zone of contact at the border of northern Washington and southern British Columbia.
